  1. Short Story Day Africa Prize 2018 for African Writers ($1,100 in Cash Prize) - Application deadline, 31st August 2018. In 2018, Short Story Day Africa is seeking innovative short fiction set in the rooms, the passages, the bars, and the lobbies of hotels across the continent, as well as metafiction exploring Africa as a hotel herself. If these walls could talk, what story would they tell?  Visit the Official Webpage of the Short Story Day Africa Prize 2018 here.
  2. Miles Morland Foundation 2018 Morland Writing Scholarship for African Writers (Euro 100,000 in Scholarships) - Application deadline, 30th September 2018. It can be difficult for writers, before they become established, to write while simultaneously earning a living. To help meet this need the MMF annually awards a small number of Morland Writing Scholarships, with the aim being to allow each Scholar the time to produce the first draft of a completed book. The Scholarships are open to anyone writing in the English language who was born in Africa, or both of whose parents were born in Africa.  Visit the Official Webpage of the Miles Morland Foundation Morland Writing Scholarship here.
  3. African Writers Trust Publishing Fellowship Programme Call for Applications - Deadline, 30th July 2018. This Publishing Fellowship programme is open to early career publishers and creative writers intending to self-publish their manuscripts. Applicants will be selected from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan. Visit the Official Webpage of African Writers Trust Publishing Fellowship Programme here.
