The Nigerian Universities Engineering Students’ Association (NUESA), University of Ilorin presents her essay contest. In the early days and even of recent, professionals and students in the engineering field are widely perceived to be lacking in formal communication skills (oratory and writing) which stand to be corrected.
The Association with high sense of responsibility to improve the standards of her members hereby deems it fit to organize this contest. The Engineering Essay Contest was conceptualized to foster the engineering students’ writing skills and also the ability to think as professionals in the engineering realm.
The aims and objectives of this contest are:
» To enhance practical research writing acumen in engineering students.
» To foster appreciation within engineering students in issues related to engineering and technology.
» To improve engineering documentation via writing.
» To air the intellectual perspective of engineering students on the nation development.
» To encourage academic competition and excellence
“Engineering and Technology: The Panacea for the Ailing Economy in the Nation.”

The winning essay will be published in the 2016 edition of the Association’s annual magazine ‘THE INNOVATOR’

» Interested participants must be duly registered undergraduate engineering students of any Nigerian University
» The winning essay will be published in the 2016 edition of the Association’s annual magazine ‘THE INNOVATOR’
» The essay must be original, empirical and meet the standards for publication in local and international journals.
» All entries should be typed in double line spacing and must not be more than 4 pages of A4 paper or 1200 words. Font type must be Times New Roman with 12 points font size.
» Citation of source must be made; in-text and work cited must appear at the end of the essay.
» Plagiarism in all forms is prohibited and will attract outright disqualification of indicted entries.
» Interested persons must be UNDERGRADUATES of any Nigerian Universities and should send their entries on or before 18th April 2016 with the following documents attached.
1. Scanned copy of their student ID card
2. One recent passport sized photograph
